Wichita Mid-Continent Airport Green Team

The Wichita Mid-Continent Airport Green Team is build upon a foundation of recycling. From May 2008, when the first recycling of paper products began, to today, when the program has expanded to include aluminum, corrugated cardboard, plastic, tires, waste oils, batteries, and asphalt, the Green Team has been an effective coalition of airport tenants with the goal of educating, promoting, partnering, and implementing hightly successful sustainability programs.

Currently, the Green Team consists of the the Wichita Airport Authority and 29 airport tenants.  By the end of this year (2012), the Mid-Continent Airport recycling staff hopes to achieve their ultimate goal of one-million pounds of materials recycled by late 2012. The Wichita Mid-Continent sustainability program has even been featured in the February/March 2011 issue of Airport Magazine!

On Monday, April 18, 2010, the City 7 film crew reported on the Airport Department's recycling efforts. With all Airport Divisions contributing in their own unique ways to the recycling efforts, employees from divisions were filmed at various locations on the Airport. Victor White, Director of Airports spoke about the future terminal building and its environmental sustainability features. To view this video, click on the following link: City 7 Report.
