The City of Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer has announced a voluntary Idle Reduction Partnership Program.  He is requesting businesses and organizations in four counties -Sedgwick, Harvey, Sumner and Butler - to consider adopting an internal Idle Reduction Policy similar to the one adopted by the City of Wichita in March, 2012.  This program is designed to help organizations save fuel and expense as well as to reduce air pollution in the area.  Details of the partnership are provided in the Mayor’s attached letter along with a copy of the City of Wichita Idle Reduction Policy (See READ MORE). Documents including a signup form and free program tools are also provided.

Effective immediately, no outdoor burning will be allowed within the city limits, in accordance with state law (K.A.R. 28-19-645). Residents may continue to use outdoor cooking grills.
